Biteabout Arts

Anna Turnbull is a fibre artist, making high quality, hand crafted items inspired by the organic forms, rich colours and textures of nature. She creates unique felt vessels and wearable items created from merino, local wools and silk; baskets and sculpture from local willow.

In addition to making unique items for sale, Anna also delivers feltmaking, basketry and willow sculpture workshops at a variety of locations in Northumberland and the Scottish Borders and bespoke workshops for groups and schools. She also welcomes commissions.

Anna designs hand felted wearable items, first 'painting' with a varied palette of dyed wools, and then felting them to create something delicate and ephemeral using fine wools and silks, or using more sculptural techniques to form vessels.

Many varieties of coloured willows are grown locally and Anna uses traditional techniques to form baskets and sculptures from them. Anna and husband Richard Charters are renovating their Northumbrian smallholding, Biteabout Farm, to provide many of the natural materials used in their work and the space for their transformation. Visits are welcome by appointment.
