Flight Weaving

Janis Embleton of Flight Weaving has many years’ experience in designing and making hand-woven textiles for exhibition and to commission. Janis teaches a range of classes for individuals and groups in both loom and non-loom weaving techniques and she hosts a monthly workshop from her studio in Swinton.

The sophisticated, exclusive and luxurious textiles Janis produces form a range of high-quality, hand-woven items, which combine traditional skills and techniques with contemporary designs.

Using only natural fibres, Janis is interested in traditional weaves and patterning, while striving to create work in-keeping with today's modern life. Her range includes scarves, wraps, cushions, table linen, rugs and abstract wall-hangings which are suitable for both the home and public spaces.

Janis also offers a bespoke commission service, providing the client with a truly unique opportunity to own a one-off luxury handwoven article.

As well as having a passion for weaving, Janis enjoys passing on her skills, regularly hosting workshops for both groups and individuals. Lessons are for both beginners and intermediate weavers and can be held at her studio in Swinton or at the student's own home if they already have a loom.
