Biteabout Arts Workshops
All workshops are held at Biteabout Farm, Lowick, Berwick upon Tweed TD15 2QE from 10am until 4pm and include materials, refreshments and a homemade lunch. All are suitable for both inexperienced and experienced felt makers.

Workshops at fine fettle fibRes
All workshops are held at Fine Fettle Fibres, Unit 6, Gallery 45, 45 Main Street , Felton, Norpeth, NE65 9PP from 10.30 am until 3.30pm, (unless stated otherwise) and include a buffet lunch and light refreshments.
This workshop builds on the techniques learnt in my Creative Casting On and Off workshop. It follows the same format of creating a folder of swatches using different cast on and cast off techniques, which will serve as a handy reference for future projects.

Come and learn to use thrums (little pieces of un-spun fibre knitted into your work) to make a pair of the cosiest slippers you could possibly wish for!

8 February 2020 – Crochet: Learn and get hooked with Cheryl Jackson £48
Learn to crochet in a fun environment, using basic to more advanced techniques. This workshop, tutored by Cheryl Jackson, is suitable for all abilities and includes basic stitches : double crochet, treble crochet and chain. We will go through how to read a pattern and make a start with putting together a multicoloured granny square.

7 March 2020 – Spring on the Wing with The Border Tart £55
Stitch a little bird collage to usher in Spring!
No prior experience or confidence required. Using cotton and linen fabrics in landscape shades, we will stitch a sampler size piece which participants may finish off at home as a framed work, or perhaps as a pocket on a tote bag or handmade top. Birds will feature, bringing the landscape to life. We will use embroidery threads, simple stitches and an easy way to transfer the bird shapes to the work! All materials will be provided but participants are very welcome to bring their own needles, threads, scissors and fabric scraps if they wish. |
14 March 2020 – How to make an easy lace-edged shawl £48
During this workshop we will be making a mini lace shawl. We will firstly create the lace border and then pick up stitches and use short rows to create the garter stitch body with a central lacy spine. To make life a little easier we will be practising using 4ply shetland yarn rather than lace weight!
This pattern can easily be scaled up to create a full size shawl in either 4ply or lace weight yarn and instructions will be provided on how to do this. The cost includes:

21 March 2020 10am - 4pm – Free-form Weaving with Eta Ingham Lawrie £58
This workshop is open to everyone – from complete beginners to more experienced weavers – who would like to make their own wall hanging to take home. Eta will teach us how to weave with a wide variety of colours and textures using mainly hand-dyed fleece and yarn but also incorporating other found objects such as shells and driftwood, or beads.
The cost includes all materials and use of equipment but you are welcome to bring your own yarn or other materials to incorporate into your own unique wall hanging. |

Visit Whistlebare for a Grand Day Out to see our beautiful animals in amazing Northumberland and learn a few new knitting skills.
At Whistlebare we are very proud of our livestock husbandry and the environmental care we take of our land and we know that our customers care about this too. So, as well as learning exciting new skills with our guest tutors we are offering to show you all around Whistlebare and introduce you to our goats, sheep, pigs and chickens. We will also feed you regularly on home baked cake and lunch made from local produce, all diets can be catered for but please let us know in advance.
